PLAYER EVALUATION
· Personality:
-Anna is an overaly talented young player. She is a good athlete, but needs a clear picture of where she is going. Anna is more of an introvert on the court and seems to have problems controling her inner-mental part of the game. Bringing more confidence and clear some technical/tactical aspects of her game might bring her to another level. Anna is easy to work with and has a good discipline.
· Game style:
-(from what I’ve seen/heard) Anna is still looking for the right game style. She likes to attack from the baseline, rarely comes to the net (she is very capable of doing it), plays rather attacking then defensive game, but mostly without a game plan. Anna makes too many unforced & forced errors. I believe she can be the future all-court player capable of playing all styles of play.
· Technique:
-Forehand is a potential weapon.
-While hitting forehand in the run A. gets off balance and tends to rotate around her body instead of following through the ball.
-A. has also tendency to hit late on forehands by early rotation of her hips and as an effect keeps her shoulder behind the kinetic chain (mostly when going for inside-out shot). Although, her inside-out forehand is making the most of her winners and therefore she needs to build an stable weapon of it.
-Tendency to hit late on the long balls as a cause of late preparation and unfinished foot work.
-Anna has a neutral two handed backhand.
-Over-rotation, early rotation of her hips, and off-balance stance while hitting backhand makes this shot a weakness in her game.
-Backhand is not as solid as it should be.
- Anna made some improvements since first seen. there was too much of the defensive topspin in her game, and in today’s female tennis is no room for that.
· Serve: Neutral
-Anna has a very simple technique that can work just fine for her.
-Incorrect 1st serve grip (fixed), lack of variety of spins.
-Point of contact on the first serve needs to be found and settled.
-1st serve is very inconsistent, second serve, too (many double
faults).
· Groundstroke’s:
-Offensive forehand, and neutral but weaker backhand
-lack of variety in approaching shots (can’t use well both slice and topspin).
· Volleys:
-Good technique, average control.
-Doesn’t feel very comfortable at the net.
-Likes to play doubles???
· Foot work:
-Overall movement is good.
-A. is pretty quick, moves well side to side but needs improvement moving forward.
-Foot work overally is a weakness.
-Foot work causes gaps in Anna’s game and is no.1 thing to be considered if looking for progress in her game generaly.
· Power:
-Average.
· Tactics:
-She is working on mastering few patterns that play into her strengths (build up play, percentage tennis…).
-Anna plays an all-court game style.
-Starts points with solid 1st serve, uses kick or slice on the second serve
-Plays consistent and deep returns.
-Finishes prepared points at the net.
-Tactically plays aggressive, high percentage tennis
-Physically is in great condition and moves well in all aspects of the game
-She uses her strengths (forehand, volleys, speed, variety of strokes) to cover her weaknesses.
-Psychologically, she projects a positive presence on the court during both the practices and the matches by controling her emotions for her best.
· Serve:
-Anna Needs to develop a consistant and faster 1st serve that will support her anytime in the match. Needs to serve at least 50 serves a day for first week and develop more focus and self-belief.
-A. needs to develop and use her kick serve more often in the match.
· Ground strokes:
-Needs to work on hitting balls early, in front of the body.
-Keep the feet on the ground during the forehand and getting low on backhands needs to be worked on.
-Anna tends to come back to her ‘old’, defensive, and harmless forehand during some match situations. She needs to change that by not worring about the score and other game pressures and stick to her strategy (be flexible to the situation) doesn’t matter what.
-Needs to develop a high percentage game plan with situation game plays.
· Psychological development
-Anna must stop talk negative to her self after errors, she must stay calm and focus on playing
-Most important for Anna is staying fully focused in the practise and the match (to be like professionals you have to be one).
· Will compete in approximately _20__ tournaments this year.
· 3 tournaments in the row is a maximum, 2 days of rest followed by at least one week of training .
· Will take March and October off from tournament play to work on development of her game and physical strength.
